Brian Valder - ACU Medal of Honour
Congratulations to Brian Valder, ACU Western Life Member and stalwart trials observer, who has been awarded with the ACU Medal of Honour.
Presented by ACU President the Right Reverend John Oliver, it goes some way to acknowledging Brian's sterling service to motorcycle sport for almost his whole life.
A very capable rider in his younger days when he competed in the Scottish Six Days Trial, Brian was a key member of the ACU South Midland Centre for many years, untli he moved to Gloucestershire around 10 years ago and threw himself in to motorcycle sport here.
If there is a trial on, Brian is usually there with a board, whatever the weather. I'd go as far to say that for chief marshals who organise observers (a thankless task!), Brian gives them one less section to worry about because he can be counted on week in, week out.
He's officiated in many other disciplines, including motocross and ACU Western has been the beneficiary of his wise counsel and unstinting support. Long may it continue. His honour is richly deserved.
