Dawn to Dusk 2008

BVM spanner twirler and trials expert Mark Thornhill tried his hand at enduros in the Dawn to Dusk over the bank holiday weekend. Riding for the BMW dealer team, Mark and his two team mates (all drawn out of a hat) finished third in the clubman class, aboard a special BMW 450.

The event was a useful shakedown for BMW, which is expected to launch the all new G 450 X at BVM Moto in Stroud on September 20. The bike has caused quite a stir in the enduro world, and not many people (Mark excepted) have ridden one yet.

Each team member rode for an hour each at a time, which handily enough was the same time as a lap and despite the weather turning the going in to a fine grinding paste, the Beemer didn't miss a beat. Extra hard brake pads were fitted, and lasted the whole event.

BMW's importers clearly used the event to prove the new bike's mettle, as their 2 off road skills teams finished ahead of the dealer team in the 3 man clubman class, and another BMW team took second and third in the pro team class.

Dawn to Dusk results - and if you're a Western Centre rider who rode this event too, let us know how you got on.
