Rob Workman - RIP

Funeral Details

ACU Western has sadly lost a committed and key organiser whose volunteer hours ensured hundreds of events ran smoothly.

Zona 1 MCC's Rob Workman passed away on Tuesday, June 6, and all in the centre and beyond will be thinking of his wife Kath, son Steve, daughter Jane and wider family at this very sad time.

His commitment to what must have amounted to doing thousands of hours of paperwork for trials events and the Zona 1 trials practice ground ensured so many of us could enjoy being out on our bikes. He had a good grasp of IT and seamlessly migrated to online entries.

Before the reformation of Zona 1 MCC, Rob played key roles in Gloucester and Cotswold MC for around 20 years, and supported his son's riding too. ACU Western Board Vice Chair Tom Welch said he was a respected character and put a lot into trials over a long period.

He was a regular delegate at ACU Western Board Meetings, a highlight of which would be Rob's perfectly timed, and always very valid items to be raised under Any Other Business.

I would add that as a volunteer Gazette editor, who occasionally makes the odd mistake, Rob would gently point that out then move on to have a good chat about trials and the village of Sheepscombe which was his home. He will be deeply missed and the whole centre sends its sincere condolences to the Workman family.

Anyone who would like to add their tributes to Rob can do so by emailing me or via the ACU Western Facebook page.
