ACU Western and Stroud Valley MC are deeply saddened at the passing of Phill Gardner.

He died following a medical episode at SVMC's Bill Peters Trial on Sunday, January 18th.

He was 57 and his presence, friendly nature and riding expertise will be very much missed. His death is not believed to have been linked to his participation in the trial. Phill was an Expert level national enduro rider, had ridden up to Clubman Expert level in trials, and was a longstanding supporter of ACU Western trials and off-road motorcycle sport in general.

The club and the centre are very grateful to the first-aid trained volunteers, and numerous emergency service personnel for doing everything they could for Phill. The trial was cancelled immediately after Phill became unwell, and the club and centre would also like to thank every rider and official for making the work of the emergency responders as straightforward as possible.

The condolences of everyone in the centre and the club are with Phill's family and friends at this very difficult time.. [on 19Jan2026]
