Western Centre Trials Committee Report - Changes for 2012

The Western Centre Trials Committee met on 26 September 2011 at The Gloucestershire Club and some changes for Western Centre Trials in 2012 were proposed. The changes were approved at the October 10 board meeting, and the minutes of that meeting were approved at the centre board meeting on November 14, 2011.

The trials committee meeting was well attended, and very positive. Many proposals were put forward for the board's approval and most were passed, while a few require a little more consideration and will be discussed at the next few board meetings and AGM. The following were approved...

Rider numbers: White numbers with coloured stickers. Tom Welch will source coloured stickers, rather than coloured crosses which can cause difficulty for observers – blue for clubman/expert, red for clubman, green for sportsman plus, yellow for sportsman. Numbers to be standardised "Stacy"-style numbers.

Centre Trials Championship: Dates to be set and status lost if it doesn't run on its original date. Format to change to allow riders to drop 2 of minimum of 8 rounds. Scoring to change to 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 5...1.

Route marking: Centre section marking colour scheme to be adopted as a formal measure, not just a guideline.

Youth: Proposed to enter 2 teams next year in Inter Centre Team Trial. Approved by the board subject to finance.

National Trial: Look in to the possibility of running a modern national trial, for 2013, either as a club or a centre. Widespread support in principle was expressed.
