About the Classic Series
Just to let you all know that Wye Valley AC, famous, among other things, for being the most western club in the Western Centre, will be holding a series of trials for "classic" bikes starting on February 25th, at Bowley Court Bodenham.
The series will again use rule TSR 22B, Non-stop , which you will find explained about half way down page 156 of the 2006 ACU handbook. Nothing to worry about, it was the rule used at all events at one time, and it is felt by the Club to be the appropriate "classic" rule for a predominantly Classic event.
This year the Series will be run over 4 rounds. Riders must enter at least 3 of the rounds to qualify for an award. Points will be awarded in all classes along the same lines as ACU championship events, first 20 points, second 17, etc. etc. down to 15th place. Points will be added up at the end of the series, taking in to account your best three scores if you entered all four rounds, and trophies will be awarded to the best three riders in each class. This includes the classes for modern bikes with riders over 40 and 50, and also applies to both routes, standard and easier.
Of course you are welcome to simply "come along for the ride" and just enjoy yourself without the pressure of keeping in the points!
Entries will be accepted by post to cut down the amount of time spent on Sunday morning filling in forms and handling money. It should also do away with the queuing and waiting around at the signing on desk and make for a more relaxed morning for everyone, especially if the weather is not too good, as it can be this time of year. Hope you can all appreciate this and get your entries posted before the closing date, and thus dispel the myth that some wait until Sunday morning to see what the weather is like, and then decide if they're going to the event or not! At least if you have entered by post and it does p**s down on the day , you wont be stood out in it queuing to fill in forms!
If you are able to provide an observer we would be very grateful and you will be rewarded with a half price entry of £7.50, please let me know if you can provide someone, preferably before the closing date, so I know in advance of the event.
Regs and entry forms are available on this website, but if you need any more info about the event, you are most welcome to give me a call. My home number is 01981 250137. Chris Gardiner, (not Clive!) Classic Series Entry Secretary. Wye Valley AC.
